Hailing from Düsseldorf in eastern Germany, the Altbier (or old beer) is a top-fermented German ale that has been around for hundreds of years. Though this classic style isn’t quite as popular as lager in Germany, it still has plenty to offer. We smell rye bread and toffee, while each sip imparts hazelnut, toast, molasses and a hint of coffee, with a dry finish. Full in body, soft in texture, the Alt pairs well with a wide variety of dishes and drinks easily year-round.
